Privacy Policy — BikeGrade
1. Controller / publisher
The application BikeGrade is developed under the developer identity EmetEM and published and distributed in app stores under the name emetem (website: https://emetem.com). In this Policy, “we”, “us”, “publisher”, and “EmetEM” refer to that publisher.
- Legal status: The publisher is a natural person (sole developer), not a registered company. A future trade name emetem may be used if a legal entity is formed later; these documents will be updated if that happens.
- Developer / publisher name (store listing): emetem (brand stylized as EmetEM).
- Contact (support & privacy): emetemdev@gmail.com — use the same address in the Google Play / App Store listing and on this site.
2. What data the app processes
BikeGrade is designed to work offline on your device. The app does not require you to create an account and does not send your recordings or settings to any server operated by the publisher.
The app processes the following categories of data:
- Device orientation and incline data — Used to compute the current incline/grade and to display it in the overlay and in graphs. Values come from on-device sensors and are kept in memory and, if you enable recording, in local storage.
- Local recordings and settings — When you record, the app stores sampled incline values over time with timestamps. Settings (units, theme, thresholds, overlay position and size) are stored locally. Data is stored only on your device using encrypted storage where supported, or private app storage otherwise. Recordings are limited in size and count.
- Diagnostics and error messages — The app may show local warnings (for example when a storage limit is reached). It does not automatically send diagnostics to the publisher.
3. Data that is not collected
BikeGrade does not:
- collect your name, email, or contact details through the app itself;
- collect account identifiers or login information;
- collect or share your precise GPS location;
- upload your recordings or settings to servers controlled by EmetEM / emetem;
- include third-party analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics) or advertising SDKs;
- show ads or use advertising identifiers.
4. Legal basis and purposes
Processing is performed solely to provide the app’s functionality: displaying incline, overlays, recordings on your device, and remembering preferences. Because data stays on your device, the basis is your choice to use the app and, where applicable, legitimate interests in operating the app and meeting store requirements.
We do not perform automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects in the sense of Art. 22 GDPR for data processed by the App.
5. Data sharing and transfers
The publisher does not receive your personal data from the app by default and does not share it with third parties through the app. No data is intentionally transferred off your device by BikeGrade.
If you manually export or share screenshots or content, that is governed by the tools you use.
Google Play, the App Store, and your device manufacturer may process limited technical or account data under their own policies.
This website (including these legal pages) may be hosted on infrastructure operated by third parties (for example GitHub Pages). Those providers may process technical data (such as IP address, access logs) under their own terms when you load pages in a browser; that processing is separate from data processed inside the BikeGrade app.
6. Retention and deletion
- Recordings and settings remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
- You can delete individual recordings inside the app.
- Uninstalling removes app data as part of the normal OS uninstall process.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location (e.g. EEA/UK), you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Because there is no backend receiving your recordings, your main controls are to manage data in the app or uninstall.
Questions: emetemdev@gmail.com
8. Children
The app is not directed at children below the age required in your region for consent without parental authorization.
9. International users
If you use the app outside Slovakia, local laws may also apply. The publisher is identified as EmetEM / emetem for store and legal purposes (website emetem.com).
10. Security
We design the app to store data locally on your device using reasonable technical measures (such as private app storage and encryption where supported). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your device physically secure, using OS updates, and protecting against malware or unauthorized access. We are not responsible for compromise of your device, loss of data due to device failure, or actions of third parties who gain access to your device, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
11. Limitation of liability (this Policy and the App)
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, EmetEM / emetem and the publisher shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your reliance on this Policy, this website, or the App’s privacy practices—except where liability cannot be excluded under mandatory law (including applicable consumer protection).
This Policy is provided to explain our practices in good faith; it does not create obligations beyond what the law and the Terms of Use require.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest revision. A copy is published at https://emetem.com/privacy-policy (or this GitHub Pages URL until your custom domain is connected).
